Newcomers' Centre for Children and Families

This program is an early childhood focused settlement service for refugee and immigrant families in Burnaby.

The program is based on the belief that the healthy growth and development of young refugee children occurs within the context of healthy families and requires the support of the whole community.

The ultimate goal of the program is to integrate refugee children and their immigrant families into mainstream programs and services. There are nine service-activities in the Centre.

  • The Welcoming Room;
  • The Newcomers’ Group;
  • Early Learning Orientation Program;
  • Preschool Orientation Program;
  • Information Sessions for Parents;
  • Teaching Kitchen;
  • Outreach Service Coordination;
  • Volunteer Program, and
  • One-to-one ECD-focused settlement planning support.
