Client Advisory Committee

The Client Advisory Committee helps MOSAIC effectively address issues that affect immigrants and refugees in the course of their settlement and integration into Canadian society.

What does the CAC do?
The CAC, as the advocate of clients, looks into the organizational strategies, client satisfaction surveys and other related documents, and provides timely feedback, suggestions and recommendations to MOSAIC management to help improve client service experience at MOSAIC.

Who is an ideal CAC member?
CAC expects the following attributes from its potential CAC members:

  • Immigrants who have received service from MOSAIC in the past

  • Immigrants who have received service from employment service agencies

  • Client oriented professionals who are passionate about giving back to their community, in whatever field they are

What is expected from the volunteer/CAC member?

  • Participate and contribute in committee meetings once every month - 3rd Monday, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at MOSAIC's office on Commercial Drive

  • Work with the team to review organizational strategies, client surveys and MOSAIC's policies, procedures and records

  • Engage in and contribute to the intellectual discussions with focus on improving overall client service experience offered by MOSAIC

  • Provide timely feedback and suggestions

  • Take ownership of actions voluntarily and meet deadlines agreed upon

What can the volunteer/CAC member expect in return?

  • To meet, interact and network with some of the brightest immigrant minds

  • To volunteer with one of the best immigrant service organizations in BC, Canada

  • To receive reference letters for volunteer work performed

  • To receive a certificate on volunteering from MOSAIC after completing 100 hrs

Current CAC Members:

 

Amador Astudillo

Amador was born and raised in the Philippines and arrived in BC in July of 2008. His professional background includes senior management responsibilities in Finance, Human Resources, IT and Project Management as well as key roles in strategic and corporate planning. An accountant by profession (CMA, CPA), he is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) and an MBA. He has experienced working across a broad range of organizations, from small manufacturing and service start-ups to large financial, consumer and telecommunications firms. His more recent experience is with a health regulatory nonprofit organization in the province. His recent volunteer experience includes serving as a member of the Advisory Board of CPA Canada's Community Connect (Financial Literacy) program as well as helping a nonprofit evaluate business plans for a global school business plan competition, as a U.N. online volunteer. He is looking forward to doing his part in helping new immigrants live a productive life in Canada.

 

Abbas AbedianAbbas Abedian

Abbas was born and raised in Iran. He holds an undergraduate degree and a PhD in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research from the United States. He has more than 10 years of experience in the management/planning/quality of mega projects mostly in the oil and gas industry. He has planned and delivered multifaceted training programs to all levels of staff and leadership in PMBOK standards, EFQM, and PMO. Additionally, he has established H2S safety services for off-shore oil and gas rigs and his teaching/research activities were in Production/Management, Quality, and Technology Management. Abbas enjoys serving on the Client Advisory Committee of MOSAIC, and would like to help new immigrants find their route to success and effectively join Canadian society.

Santosh Mishra
Schooled and raised in India, Santosh has had a distinguished career of over 30 years as an engineer (Electronics and Telecom). He has master degrees in engineering and management. He served the Indian Navy for 20 years and retired as a Commander. For the past 10 years he worked in an IT company heading three departments (quality, compliance and InfoSec, as  VP). He successfully led the company through ISO 9001, 27001, CMM, CMMI, Six Sigma -excellence-initiatives processes and contributed substantially to management-maturity and quality-culture enhanced projects in the company, resulting in a spurt of growth and enhanced bottom line. He has been volunteering for over eight years in areas of quality and project management in Vancouver, Calgary, and Bangalore.

Santosh arrived in B.C. in July 2011 and is very appreciative of the services he received form MOSAIC since September 2011. He enjoys giving back and helping the community. Serving in the client advisory committee, he hopes to help immigrants to better integrate  into Canadian society.
 
 
 

Arsenio Chua.jpgArsenio Chua
Arsenio is a Filipino of Chinese descent. He completed his university degree (B.S.B.A.) in the Philippines. Before coming to Canada, he was a businessman since 1975, in Manila. While in Vancouver, he attended MOSAIC Seniors Club offered under the leadership of Daisy (the coordinator). Arsenio is happy and glad to be a member of the  MOSAIC's CAC and hopes to bring his best to the committee. 

Currently, Arsenio is a Tai Chi Instructor. He also conducts Waitankung - exercises designed specially for seniors and for partially disabled persons - these exercises are very famous in Taiwan. He also leads Hue Chun Gong sessions when time permits.

Sandra Colunga 

Sandra is a Quality Assurance holder of a professional Chemical Engineering degree from Mexico City. She has been living in Vancouver for 19 years and has worked in the quality assurance field in various industries, such as pharmaceutical and compressed gas, among others. She has led locations to successful ISO 9001 certifications and developed training programs for regulatory requirements as per Health Canada, analytical instrumentation and ISO standards. She has worked in laboratory, manufacturing and service environments, as well as a lead auditor performing internal and external audits. Sandra strongly believes that quality is present in all aspects of our lives and constantly strives for improvements.

In joining MOSAIC's CAC, Sandra looks forward to contribute to the constant improvement of services provided to new comers. 

 

Melvin Bustamante.jpgMelvin Bustamante
Melvin, born in Ecuador, is an Economist with a Master's degree in Business Administration. His professional background includes knowledge and experience in Information Systems Management, International Trade, Customs, Forensic Audits, Logistics, Finance, Economic Research/Analysis, and Securities. He has worked in the private and public sectors in his hometown and also internationally. He is fluent in French, Spanish, German and Portuguese. In Canada, he found his passion for volunteerism at the NewToBC's Library Champions Project, where he was a member of the Advisory Committee. His goal as a member of MOSAIC's Client Advisory Committee is to support the Canadian multicultural immigrant community.
