Connecting Fathers

Immigrant/refugee fathers with children 0 to 6 years old... what are the secrets of the most successful immigrant and refugee fathers? The Family Support Programs at MOSAIC set out to answer that question by launching the Connecting Fathers program in 2007.

Over the course of the program immigrant/refugee fathers, with support from the Connecting Fathers team, explored their many challenges and successes as fathers.

Nine factors were identified as being the keys to their success:

  • Setting clear goals
  • Developing clear and flexible plans
  • Enhanced practical skills and knowledge
  • A supportive environment
  • Knowledge of resources
  • Supportive friends and associates;
  • Mastery of emotions
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Helping others
