Information and Support Services
We provide services to help in settlement and adaptation process of new immigrants and refugees into
the economic, social, and political systems in
Canada
. These services are delivered in partnership and co-operation with community agencies and funders.
Information and Support Services serves about 5,500 clients annually with 11,000 service contacts.
Target Clients
Immigrants,
refugees, refugee claimants, naturalized citizens and people with temporary status. Priority will be given to
people who have the greatest settlement needs —typically those who have arrived most recently to the Lower Mainland.
Services
- Initial Assessment and Action Planning: identifying needs,
appropriate services and courses of action that can assist with settlement and adaptation.
- Orientation Information: introduction to Canadian life and
culture.
- Enhanced Information:
assistance through various systems and processes.
- Referral: introducing relevant services and/or resources available in the broader community that relate to each client’s needs.
- Service Linking: assistance in accessing the relevant services
and/or resources within the broader community that relate to each client’s needs.
- Service Bridging:
helping non-settlement service providers better understand and respond to client needs.
- Service Support: making necessary resources and expertise
available to support-service givers.
Service Activities
Service provided in person or via telephone, e-mail, fax, correspondence and/or group sessions.
Appointments and Information
- Clients are encouraged to
set up an appointment with a bilingual counsellor before visiting MOSAIC.
- Clients may be requested to
fill out intake and/or assessment forms for statistical and reporting purposes.
