IM.POWER.ED

This is a community-based legal education and facilitation project for temporary foreign workers.

IM.POWER.ED assists groups of temporary foreign workers (TFWs) by orienting, educating and empowering them via access to public legal education and information about their legal rights and responsibilities. Through targeted outreach, IM.POWER.ED facilitates the distribution of Public Legal Education and Information (including FAQ (frequently asked questions) fact sheets translated to Chinese Simplified, Korean, Portuguese, Punjabi and Spanish) to TFWs, as well as frontline workers, advocates, settlement and community workers, volunteers and community groups working on their behalf in British Columbia.

Services offered through IM.POWER.ED for TFWs:
  • A drop-in centre for temporary foreign workers on Mondays, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at our Vancouver Head Office located at 1720 Grant St, Vancouver. B.C. that offers the following:
    • English Conversation Circle: This session is the first of its kind in Vancouver and is suitable for newcomers from beginner to lower intermediate levels.
    • Workshops on topics of interest to temporary foreign workers in Vancouver and Burnaby.
