Front Line Advocacy Workers' Project (FLAW)

Front-line community organizations, advocates, lawyers and individuals working on poverty issues in British Columbia

The Front Line Advocacy Workers (FLAW) is a coalition of over 70 front-line community organizations, advocates, lawyers and individuals working on poverty issues in British Columbia.

FLAW’s main objective is the reduction of poverty in British Columbia. FLAW provides its members with a forum where they can exchange information and expertise, develop and support coalition work, and work cooperatively to carry out educational and lobbying initiatives and other forms of systemic advocacy.

FLAW is a diverse group whose expertise ranges across tenants’ rights, immigration, legal education, family law, women services, health care and disability, homelessness and human rights. FLAW provides its members with a forum in which they can bring their considerable skills together in the service of the poor and disadvantaged in British Columbia, allowing members the opportunity to utilize the group’s knowledge and expertise. It also provides front-line advocates with a tool to couple their advocacy work with effective law and policy reform work, identifying systemic issues arising from case advocacy and acting organizationally to effect systemic change. FLAW is able to lend its voice to the most pressing issues affecting persons with low incomes in British Columbia.

The FLAW Facilitation Project is an initiative of MOSAIC Legal Advocacy Program.
