Community-based legal education and facilitation project for temporary foreign workers.
IM.POWER.ED is a one-year project that aims to assist all groups of temporary foreign workers (TFWs) in orienting, educating and empowering themselves via access to public legal education and information (PLEI) about their legal rights and responsibilities.
Through targeted outreach IM.POWER.ED will facilitate the distribution of PLEI (including FAQ fact sheets translated to other languages including Korean, Punjabi and Spanish) to TFWs, as well as the frontline workers, advocates, settlement and community workers, volunteers and community groups working on their behalf in British Columbia. Further access to relevant PLEI materials will be made possible through its distribution to the media and online.
Through qualified experts IM.POWER.ED will deliver PLEI workshops and presentations on issues of interest to TFWs, as well as the frontline workers, advocates, settlement and community workers, volunteers and community groups working on their behalf in British Columbia.
In order to facilitate change throughout the province, IM.POWER.ED will collaborate with partner agencies in Penticton, Prince George and Victoria.
Other MOSAIC services available to TFWs include a Drop-In Centre and the Legal Advocacy Program.
