About Volunteer Resources at MOSAIC

At any given time, MOSAIC engages anywhere from 275 - 325 volunteers in our program and service delivery. And that number grows steadily.

Volunteers perform many functions within MOSAIC.  About 60% of our volunteers work within two programs; Culture Connections Host Program and Workplace Connections Mentorship Program.

Volunteer Hosts are Canadians or well settled immigrants who help to orient newcomers to the city and the new culture in which they find themselves. Volunteer Mentors are professionals who help immigrants to move their careers to Canada.

Other volunteers contribute by helping with MOSAIC’s Seniors Programs, in ESL classrooms, or with special events.  For more information about current openings, visit our Current Volunteer Openings section.

MOSAIC’s Volunteer Resources are administered by a team of staff from the Settlement Department and the Language Centre. The objectives of the Volunteer Team are to:

  • Build coherent volunteer programs throughout the agency
  • Create consistency in volunteer administrative practices wherever appropriate.
  • Create and revise volunteer policies as necessary
  • Advocate and educate on behalf of volunteers
  • Promote professional development of staff who manage volunteers
  • Create volunteer recognition opportunities for all agency volunteersChart of Volunteers.jpg
